Curriculum A connections-- Science 

K.E.1 Understand change and observable patterns of weather that occur from day to day and throughout the year.

  • K.E.1.1 Infer that change is something that happens to many things in the environment based on observations made using one or more of their senses.

Using the Use Your Senses activity, the children will be able to figure out how different weather conditions affect their different senses.

 

  • K.E.1.2 Summarize daily weather conditions noting changes that occur from day to day and throughout the year.

The Weather of the Day activity will help show students the changes that happen day to day. There are questions that will help the children understand that weather does change day to day.

 

  • K.E.1.3 Compare weather patterns that occur from season to season.

The smartboard activity and questions help show students that weather changes with seasons.


Curriculum B connections-- Language Arts

Writing Standards-- Text Types and Purposes

Kindergarten

3. Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to narrate a single event or several loosely linked events, tell about the events in 

the order in which they occurred, and provide a reaction to what happened.

The Sunny with a Chance of Writing activity helps students think about weather that they remember and put a creative spin on it.

 

Curriculum C connections-- Visual Arts

K.V.2 Apply creative and critical thinking skills to artistic expression.

  • K.V.2.2 Use sensory exploration of the environment as a source of imagery. 

After exploring different aspects of weather, the children will use all they have learned to draw a weather scene. This is in The Perfect Weather Condition activity
